Mockat is an online CAT coaching platform operated by Mockat Education Private Limited, Chennai, India. When this policy says "Mockat," "we," "us," or "our," it refers to Mockat Education Private Limited.

2. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Name, email address, and mobile number when you register or purchase a plan
- State and city for localising your experience
- Payment information — processed securely via our payment partners (Razorpay / Stripe); Mockat never stores your full card details
- Messages you send us via support email or WhatsApp
Information we collect automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, time spent, questions attempted and answers given
- Device information: browser type, operating system, screen resolution, IP address
- Performance data: app load times, error logs
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)
Information from third parties
- If you log in via Google, we receive your name and email address from Google
- Analytics partners (Google Analytics) provide aggregated usage statistics
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your Mockat account and deliver the services you have subscribed to
- Process payments and issue invoices / GST receipts
- Personalise your learning experience — recommend topics, track progress, and surface relevant content
- Send you important service updates, reminders about your plan, and study schedule notifications
- Send promotional communications about new features or plans — you can unsubscribe at any time
- Improve our platform, diagnose bugs, and analyse how students use Mockat to build better features
- Comply with legal obligations under Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data on the following bases:
- Contract performance — to deliver the service you have purchased
- Legitimate interests — to improve our platform and detect fraud
- Legal obligation — to comply with tax, regulatory, and law-enforcement requirements
- Consent — for marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how you use our platform. We use:
- Essential cookies — required for the platform to function (login sessions, security tokens)
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics, to measure page visits and feature usage in aggregate

All third-party service providers are contractually required to handle your data securely.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data for the duration of your subscription and for a period of 3 years after account closure, as required for tax and audit compliance under Indian law. Usage and performance data is retained in anonymised form for up to 5 years for platform improvement purposes.
You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by writing to info@mockat.com.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications
- Export your performance and progress data in a readable format
9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, bcrypt password hashing, and role-based access controls. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify you within 72 hours of becoming aware of it.
10. Children's Privacy
Mockat's services are intended for students aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at info@mockat.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the platform at least 7 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Mockat after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
