Read the following and answer the questions that follow
Five people joined different engineering colleges. Their first names were Sarah (Ms.), Swati (Ms.), Jackie, Mohan and Priya (Ms.). The surnames were Reddy, Gupta, Sanyal, Kumar and Chatterjee. Except for one college which was rated as 3 star, all other colleges were rated either 4 star or 5 star.
The 'Techno Institute' had a higher rating than the college where Priya studied. The three star college was not 'Deccan College'. Mohan's last name was Gupta but he didn't study at 'Barla College'. Sarah, whose last name wasn't Sanyal, joined 'Techno Institute'. Ms. Kumar and Jackie both studied at four-star colleges. Ms. Reddy studied at the 'Anipal Institute', which wasn't a five-star college. The 'Barla College' was a five-star college. Swati's last name wasn't Chatterjee. The 'Chemical College' was rated with one star less than the college where Sanyal studied. Only one college was rated five star.

It is given that one college is 3 star and all other colleges were either 4 star or 5 star.
Using statement 10) we can conclude that there are three 4 star colleges, one 3 star college and one 5 star college.
We’ll form a table with the first name of the five people in different columns and then we’ll match them with their surnames, Gender, College and Rating.
We’ll start filling the direct clues first.
Statement 1) says that techno > Priya. As there is only one 5 star college and that is Barla, Techno has to be 4 star and Priya has to be 3 star. Statement 3) says that 3 star college is not Deccan. So we can say that Priya did not join Deccan.
Mohan did not study in Barla, therefore we can conclude that Mohan’s college is 4 star.
The only person whose rating to be filled up is Swati and we have already allotted three 4 star and one 3 star colleges, the only rating left is 5 star. As Barla is the college that have 5 star rating we can conclude that Swati studies in Barla with 5 star rating.
The females here has different star ratings. One is in 3, one is in 4 and one is in 5. Statement 5) says that Ms. Kumar is in a college with 4 star rating. As there is only one female in 4 star college we can conclude that Kumar is the surname of Sarah.
Statement 6) says that Ms. Reddy went to Anipal. The only other female the college is not filled is Priya. So we can conclude that Reddy is the surname of Priya and she studies in Anipal.
Chatterjee cannot be the surname of Swati. So it must be the surname of Jackie.
The only surname we are left with is Sayal. So we can conclude that Sanyal is the surname of Swati.
Beyond this we cannot conclude who went to Deccan and who went to Chemical.
Based on this, option (5) is the correct choice.
